Case Western Reserve University senior Ilissa Hamilton (S. Abington Township, Pa. / Scranton Preparatory School) was named to the College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA) Academic All-America Division III Softball First Team, following her outstanding achievements both in the classroom and on the field over her career as a Spartan.
Hamilton becomes the sixth Spartan this year to win the award, joining Anika Washburn (women's soccer), Karley King (volleyball), Dee Gose (football), Travis Johnston (football) and Andrew Lease (football) and the 116th selection in the history of CWRU athletics.
In addition, Hamilton becomes the first Spartan in the program's history to have Academic All-America selections in multiple years. Hamilton was an Academic All-America Second Team selection last year as well.
Hamilton, a three-time All-UAA selection, led the team with a 2.63 earned run average as she only allowed 12 earned runs in 32 innings pitched in her third year as a Spartan. She ranked first on the team with 27 strikeouts and posted a 3-1 record in five starts. Hamilton also totaled a team-high four complete games. In addition to her work on the mound, Hamilton batted .217 (5-for-23) with one double, six RBI's and eight runs scored.
In just three years as a Spartan, Hamilton ranks fourth in school history with 326 strikeouts, sixth in wins with 37 and seventh in innings pitched with 338.1.
Academically, Hamilton is a UAA All-Academic honoree, and has recorded a 4.00 grade point average as a Biomedical Engineering major.
Case Western Reserve finished the shortened 2020 campaign with a 6-4 overall record and notched its ninth-consecutive winning season.
