The New York University women's fencing team competed at the George Kolombatovich Memorial Meet hosted by Columbia University on Wednesday, February 12.

The Violets won two out of three matches, defeating Vassar College (14-13) and Sacred Heart University (19-8) and falling to host Columbia (19-8). They finished the dual-meet season with an 18-14 record.

The women were led in foil by Chiara Codazzi (Rome, Italy/St. Stephens) and Sarah Prilutsky (Princeton, NJ/Princeton Day), both with 7-2 records.

Elizabeth Sweetra (Summit, NJ/Oak Knoll School of the Holy Child) went 6-3 in sabre, while Anna Lanzman (Brooklyn, NY/Stuyvesant) won five epee bouts.

"I was very proud of the women tonight," said Head Coach Steve Mormando. "There were some outstanding performances and they were able to capture their first winning season in a long time."
