NYU Competes at NCAA Regional

The New York University women's fencing team competed in the NCAA Regional Championship in Ithaca, NY, on Sunday, March 8. The event was hosted by Cornell University.

Sarah Prilutsky (Princeton, NJ/Princeton Day) led the way for the women, finishing 16th in foil, ahead of teammates Chiara Codazzi (Rome, Italy/St. Stephens) (20th place) and Grace Park (Dix Hills, NY/Half Hollow Hills West ) (28th place). 

Ria Jobalia (Saratoga, CA/Saratoga) was the top epee fencer for the Violets, finishing in 21st place.  Anna Lanzman (Brooklyn, NY/Stuyvesant), Eileen Wang (East Brunswick, NJ/East Brunswick), and Rachel Wu (Palo Alto, CA/Shanghai American School (China)) finished 28th, 35th and 45th, respectively. 

In sabre, Chloe Chen (Lumberton, NJ/Moorestown Friends) had a 29th-place finish with MeiLiu Merchant (Wyckoff, NJ/Ramapo) taking 38th. 

A maximum of six fencers from each school are able to qualify for the NCAA Championships, which will be held on Thursday-Sunday, March 19-22, in Detroit, MI.
