Tartans Lead Wire-to-Wire to Win 2019 Golfweek DIII Fall Invite; Sudjianto Medals

The Carnegie Mellon University women's golf team won the 2019 Golfweek DIII Fall Invitational on Tuesday at the par 72, 5,832-yard Baytowne Golf Club at Sandestin Golf and Beach Resort in Miramar Beach, Florida. The Tartans followed up their record-breaking performance on Monday by carding a 303 on Tuesday for a total score of 908 (309-296-303) for the 54-hole event. The Cardinal and Gray not only secured a 19-stroke victory over Methodist University (319-300-308) and defending team champion Rhodes College (315-318-294) as well as 15 other Division III teams, but also set a new school record for the lowest 54-hole total in the program's history. The old record was 912 set last season.

In addition, freshman Alexis Sudjianto (Charlotte, N.C./Charlotte Latin School) concludes an astounding fall season by earning individual medalist honors, firing a second consecutive 71 to finish with a 54-hole total of one-over par 217 (75-71-71). Not only did Sudjianto edge out Bailey Plourde of Centre College for the individual title, but Sudjianto also set a new individual 54-hole scoring record along with her 36-hole individual record.

Junior Charlotte Simpson (Towson, Md./Bryn Mawr School) finished in a tie for fourth individually, shooting a second consecutive four-over par 76 for a three-day total of 227 (75-76-76).

Sophomore Nadia Susanto (Irvine, Calif./Arnold O. Beckman) was the Tartans' third player who finished inside the top 10 of the individual leaderboard. Susanto carded a 79 today for a total score of 229 (77-73-79).

Freshman Michelle Cao (Johns Creek, Ga. / Northview) backed up her 76 from Monday with a five-over par 77 for a total of 235 (82-76-77). Freshman Michelle Koo (Scottsdale, Ariz./BASIS Scottsdale Charter) improved her season low with an 81 today to finish the event with a total of 250 (85-84-81).

The Tartans will be off until the spring when they compete in the Savannah Invitational at Savannah Quarters Golf Club in Savannah, Georgia from March 9-10.
