Two Records Fall as Tartans Extend Their Lead at Golfweek DIII Fall Invitational

The Carnegie Mellon University women's golf team continued play on the second day of the 2019 Golfweek DIII Fall Invitational on Tuesday on the par 72, 5,832-yard Baytowne Golf Club at Sandestin Golf and Beach Resort in Miramar Beach, Florida. The Tartans topped the program's previous record for the lowest team score by four strokes with an eight-over par 296. With that, the Tartans carded a total 36-hole team score of 605 (309-296) and will enter the final day tomorrow as the leading team over a field of 18 schools. In addition, three players are currently positioned inside the top five of the individual leaderboard.

Freshman Alexis Sudjianto (Charlotte, N.C./Charlotte Latin School) continues her stellar season tying the program's record for the lowest individual round in just her third collegiate start, carding four birdies on her way to a one-under par 71. With her round today, Sudjianto also sets a new school record for the lowest two-round total with an aggregate score of two-over par 146 (75-71). Sudjianto currently sits in second individually out of 95 players.

Sophomore Nadia Susanto (Irvine, Calif./Arnold O. Beckman) carded three birdies in her round today en route to a one-over par 73, her lowest competitive round this season. Susanto will enter the final round in third individually with a 150 (77-73).

Junior Charlotte Simpson's (Towson, Md./Bryn Mawr School) steady play continued into today, as Simpson fired a four-over par 76 for a 36-hole total of 151 (75-76). Simpson currently sits in a tie for fourth on the individual leaderboard.

Freshman Michelle Cao (Johns Creek, Ga. / Northview) improved her season-low score with a round of four-over par 76, entering the final day tomorrow with a 158 (82-76) while freshman Michelle Koo (Scottsdale, Ariz./BASIS Scottsdale Charter) followed up yesterday's round with an 84 today for a 169 (85-84).

With one more day remaining, the Tartans hold a 14-stroke lead over Methodist University, who scored a 300 today for a two-round total of 619 (319-300). Simpson, Susanto, and Sudjianto will also be chasing Bailey Plourde of Centre College for the individual title. Plourde, a junior, fired a one-under par 71 today to enter the final round at 143 (72-71).
