Five Tartans Named WGCA All-American Scholars

Five members of the Carnegie Mellon University women's golf team have been named to the 2020-21 Women's Golf Coaches Association (WGCA) All-American Scholar Team, as announced by the organization. Senior Charlotte Simpson (Towson, Md./Bryn Mawr School), junior Nadia Susanto (Irvine, Calif./Arnold O. Beckman), sophomores Alexis Sudjianto (Charlotte, N.C./Charlotte Latin School) and Michelle Cao (Johns Creek, Ga./Northview) along with freshman Denise Pan (Houston, Texas/St. John's School). This marks the fourth straight year four or more have been recognized and the second straight season the Cardinal and Gray have had five members honored, tying the most in program history.

This is the fourth accolade for Simpson, third for Susanto, second for Cao with Sudjianto and Pan honored for the first time.

A total of 1,432 women's collegiate golfers were recognized from NCAA Division I, II and III. The criteria for selection to the All-American Scholar Team is a minimum cumulative GPA of 3.50.

All five were named to the University Athletic Association Women's Golf Team and led the Tartans to a runner-up finish at the NCAA Championships, the highest national finish for any team sport in school history. The 2021 season saw two team school records broke. The Tartans set the lowest 18-hole score with a 285 at the Montgomery Country Club Women's Intercollegiate played at the Montgomery Country Club and then set the school record for the lowest 36-hole tournament score with a 597 at the same event.
