Emory 14th After Two Rounds At NCAA D-III Championship

The Emory women's golf team moved up the leader board during the second round of the NCAA D-III Championships on Wednesday. The Championships are being held at the 5,818, par-72 Forest Akers West Course in East Lansing, Michigan.

Entering the day of competition in 18th place, the Eagles shaved 23 strokes off their Tuesday round and shot a team score of 321, leaving them with  36-hole mark of 665, good for 14th place out of 25 teams. 

Carnegie Mellon holds down first place at 620 (312-308) while Methodist stands second, just one shot behind (321-300).

Freshman Mariana Chong and Ksheera Jalakam tied for Emory's top score of the day with each shooting 79.  Freshman Rebecca Schiffman carded her second straight 80 while sophomore Shriya Agarwal closed out the scoring at 83.  Freshman Jessica Lan checked in with an 84.

For the tournament, Schiffman is tied for 26th place out of 131 players at 160 (80-80) with Jalakam standing tied for 46th with a 164 (85-79).  Chong and Agarwal each show a score of 171 while Lan is at 175.

Makensie Toole of George Fox leads all players with a 36-hole performance of 146 (76-70).
