Case Western Reserve University senior Jacob Frisch was named the co-All-University Athletic Association wrestler in the 133-pound weight class and senior Andrew Hoover was named the All-UAA wrestler in the 149-pound weight class, as the Spartans finished third at the 2020 UAA Championships, hosted by New York University in New York, New York on Saturday afternoon.

The Spartans finished third in the team standings after falling 32-18 to the University of Chicago, and dropping a 43-6 match against the 11th-ranked New York University. NYU would eventually win the UAA Championships with a 27-11 win over Chicago.

The Spartans dropped to 6-10 on the season, while Chicago now stands at 4-4, and NYU ended the day with a 12-7 record.

Versus Chicago, the Spartans gained the early lead as Andrew Hoover pinned Grant Morrison in 6:25 to give CWRU a 6-0 advantage. After dropping the next four matches, junior 197-pounder Brian Kent earned a 3-0 decision over Caleb Jeffreys to cut the deficit to 20-9. The Maroons took the 285-pound match, before sophomore Adam Kates won by forfeit at 125 pounds. The Spartans earned their final points at 133 pounds after Frisch claimed a 10-9 decision over Griffin Seyfried.

Frisch becomes the third Spartan in the 133-pound weight class to earn the All-UAA honor, and first since Drew Gardella in 2006.

Versus New York, Andrew Hoover once again gave the Spartans the early lead as he earned a 7-3 decision over Donald Albach. CWRU got their final points of the match at 141 pounds, as Frisch claimed a 5-4 decision over Quinn Dailey.
