NYU Falls to Stevens in Matchup of Ranked Teams

The New York University wrestling team was back in action on Saturday, February 1, as the squad took on Stevens in Hoboken, NJ.

NYU, currently ranked #9 in the nation by the National Wrestling Coaches Association (NWCA), lost to the Duck, who are ranked #15, by a score of 30-13.

The match started with heavyweights, and Will Ortman (Hopewell Valley, NJ/Hopewell Valley Central) was the recipient of a forfeit win as NYU went up 6-0.

However, NYU's grapplers were only able to win two more bout, with Sean Lyons (Sewell, NJ/St. Joseph's Prep) (157) winning by decision (8-1) and Izaake Zuckerman (Fairfield, CT/Fairfield Warde) (174) producing a major decision victory (14-5).

NYU now has a 2019-20 season dual-meet record of 8-6. Stevens is now 6-5.
