Camille Williams of Carnegie Mellon Honored on CoSIDA Academic All-America Team for Second Time

Carnegie Mellon University women's soccer senior Camille Williams (Cincinnati, Ohio/The Seven Hills School) was named to the College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA) Academic All-America Women's Soccer Team for Division III. This year, Williams earned selection to the first team after being named to the second team as a sophomore. Overall, 33 women's players were selected from across the nation.

A defender for the Tartans, Williams has helped the team reach the NCAA Division III Women's Soccer Championship semifinals for the first time in school history. The Tartans head into the final weekend of the NCAA season with a 14-5-2 record with 11 team shutouts. The Tartans entered the United Soccer Coaches national rankings on October 15 and closed the regular season 25th in the nation. Williams has now played in three NCAA tournaments with the Tartans. Other honors for the senior throughout her career include two All-University Athletic Association (UAA) accolades as a freshman and a sophomore.

Away from the field, Williams maintains a 3.96 GPA as a chemistry major with a minor in business. As a member of Plaidvocates, a peer health and wellness advocacy program for athletes, Williams initiated, coordinated and executed the idea of an "Athlete Cook Off" workshop to promote healthy eating. The senior is an undergraduate researcher of organic and polymer synthesis, spent one summer at LORD Corporation in Erie, Pennsylvania, as a student associate on the analytical chemistry team and was previously an intern in an inorganic chemistry lab at the University of Cincinnati.

Williams spent last spring in Nice, France, as part of the study abroad program. This fall, Williams was initiated into Phi Beta Kappa and named an Andrew Carnegie Society Scholar. The senior has received two awards from the chemistry department given for high achievement and recently accepted a full-time position with Eli Lilly as a research associate in their Molecular Innovation Hub (MIH) Rotational Program.
