Case Western Reserve University senior Madeleine Paolucci earned All-American honors on Friday as she picked up a win in the first round of the 2021 NCAA Division III Singles Tournament in Chattanooga, Tennessee.

Paolucci earned a straight-set victory over Hamilton's Sophia Aulicino in the round of 32. She claimed a 6-2 win in the first set and then sealed the victory with a 6-0 win in the second set.

However in the round of 16, Paolucci matched up with Emma Smith of Sewanee and fell by a score of 6-4, 6-2.

The loss puts an end to a spectacular career for Paolucci. With the All-American honor, she became the program's only five-time All-American. Paolucci has racked up 48 career singles wins for CWRU, which ranks sixth-best in the program's history. In addition, she has totaled 50 career doubles victories which ranks 10th-best in program history. Paolucci also has been named to the All-University Athletic Association team multiple times throughout her career and received the ITA Arthur Ashe Leadership & Sportsmanship Award in 2020.

The Spartans ended the 2021 season with an overall record of 5-1.
