From University of Chicago Athletics
Following her historic performances at the national championships, University of Chicago junior Isabel Maletich pulled in two more national awards this week from the U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA).
Maletich was selected as the National Women's Field Athlete of the Year on Wednesday. On Thursday, she was named the co-Most Outstanding Women's Field Performer at the 2021 NCAA Division III Outdoor Track & Field Championships.
This marks the second year in-a-row that a Maroon has earned the National Women's Field Athlete of the Year – Laura Darcey also received the distinction for the 2020 indoor season. Maletich previously garnered Most Outstanding Field Performer status at the 2019 NCAA DIII Indoor Track & Field Championships.
Maletich claimed a pair of NCAA national titles last weekend in Greensboro, N.C. on May 27 and 29. She won the women's long jump with a leap of 5.88 meters. The junior followed up two days later with a victory in the women's triple jump with a school-record mark of 12.38 meters. She became the fourth woman in the history of the NCAA Division III national meet to sweep the horizontal jumps.
