Julia Myers of Rochester Named to CoSIDA Academic All-America Team

University of Rochester distance runner Julia Myers has been named to the Academic All-America Division III Team for women's cross country and track and field. Selections were made following voting by members of the College Sports Information Directors of America. She is a resident of Westfield, New Jersey and an alumnus of Westfield High School.
 
Five Rochester women have earned Academic All-America honors in cross country/track and field from CoSIDA since the initial selection in 2004.
 
Myers graduated with a degree in Digital Media Studies and minors in Business and Computer Science. She was a Teaching Assistant for Recreational Graphics for two semesters. Last spring, she was named a Provost's Circle Scholar, signifying her as one of the top junior students. This spring, she was elected to Phi Beta Kappa, the internationally renowned honor society.
 
In her sophomore year, she spent the spring semester in Denmark interning in marketing with a  company named IIH Nordic. Last summer, she was a digital marketing assistant with a telecommunications company named BITS. She had a second internship with Powers Communications, a marketing firm. She was a Brand & Marketing Associate.
 
She was a member of the Varsity Student Athlete Advisory Committee, concentrating on fund raising for the Special Olympics and the Red Cross.
 
Myers ran in two NCAA Division III national cross country races – 2018 and 2019. She also raced in the mile run at the 2019 NCAA indoor track and field championships. She finished 15th in the mile. She was third in the mile run at the 2019 Liberty League indoor championships and placed fourth in the same event a week later at the All-Atlantic Regional Championships. She ran on Rochester's Distance Medley Relay at the Atlantic Regionals. The Yellowjackets finished fifth in the event.
 
During the 2019 outdoor season, Myers produced two top-eight performances in the Liberty League championships (third in the 1,500, seventh in the 800). She was fifth in the 1,500 at the All-Atlantics a week later.
 
In her junior year for cross country, Myers placed 40th at the UAA Championships, 54th at the NCAA Atlantic Regional Championships, and 175th at the NCAA Championships. As a senior, she produced a personal best time of 22:51.6 at the UAA Championships (23rd overall). She was 28th at the Atlantic Regional run a week later, helping Rochester earn a team spot at the national championship race. She was 138th at that race.
