Kelli Blake Resigns as Washington University Assistant Cross Country and Track & Field Coach

From Washington University Athletics

Washington University in St. Louis Director of Athletics Anthony J. Azama announced that Kelli Blake has resigned from her position of assistant coach and assistant sports performance coach for the cross country and track & field programs.

Since 2015, Blake has helped the Bears to 23 team titles at the University Athletic Association (UAA) Championships. She has coached a total of nine student-athletes to school record performances.

Blake coached the men's 4x400 relay team (Jason Singer, Andrew Whitaker, Eddie Wintergalen and John Harry Wagner) to a first-place finish at the 2019 Division III NCAA Outdoor Championships, recording the first outdoor relay national title in school history.

The women's indoor and outdoor track & field teams clinched the program's first NCAA Championship titles in the 2017 season. In 2018, the men's cross country team finished as runners-up and the women won the NCAA Championships.

"Words can't express my appreciation for Kelli's contributions to both the cross country and track & field family. Her impact was felt at every level and showed itself in our unprecedented success during her tenure. The athletes and I are all forever grateful," said head coach Jeff Stiles. "I truly believe Kelli was the glue that helped our program come closer together during her time as an athlete and as a coach. Having an alumna on our coaching staff was very special and her presence will be greatly missed."

Blake is a 2011 graduate of WashU and former member and captain of both the track & field and cross country teams. She received All-America honors in 2008 as a member of the indoor distance medley relay.

Her last day will be Sept. 15.
