The 10th-ranked New York University women's volleyball team won both of its matches at the second University Athletic Association (UAA) Round Robin of the season, hosted by Carnegie Mellon University, on Sunday in Pittsburgh, PA.

NYU opened the day with a four-set victory over University of Chicago by set scores of 25-18, 15-25, 25-23, 25-22. The Violets completed the sweep by defeating Case Western Reserve University in straight sets (25-20, 25-15, 25-19).

The team improved to 12-3 overall and 4-1 in Association play with the two wins.

The Violets never trailed in the first set, racing out to a 16-6 lead to get things started. Chicago scored four consecutive points late to make it 24-18, but then committed a service error to give NYU a win.

UC bounced right back in the second, building a 13-3 advantage early on. Five straight NYU points made it 17-13, but the Violets hit just .021 in the frame to drop set number two and even the match.

The Violets trailed for much of the third as well, falling behind 10-6 after a Maddie Ryan kill. But, NYU finished the set on an 8-2 run to come back and win 25-22.

Both sides traded leads for the majority of the fourth set, as NYU tied it at 15 when Leela Anvekar delivered a kill to jump start a 6-2 run that put the Violets up 20-17. Chicago didn't regain the lead as another Anvekar kill finished the set and gave NYU a hard-fought triumph.
