The College of Wooster's late-season schedule has it battle-tested heading into the North Coast Athletic Conference Tournament, which takes place later this week, as it tangled with its third nationally-ranked opponent this spring – No. 12 Case Western Reserve University – a match that ended in defeat, 9-0, on Sunday at Cleveland, Ohio.
There were some highpoints for the Scots (9-9), none more so than at No. 4 singles, where Jack Buchan took three games in the first set and another six in the second set, which forced a tiebreaker. Buchan eventually was edged out 6-3, 7-6 (10-8) in the most competitive match-up of the day.
At No. 2 singles, Harrison Suttle faced off against the second-ranked player in the NCAA Div. III Central Region, Chris Krimbill, and didn't make it easy on him. Suttle took a total of seven games from his highly-touted opponent, but ultimately settled for a 6-3, 6-4 setback.
Jacob Pine and Milo Saurman were also very much in the mix, before falling by matching 6-4, 6-2 scores at the third- and sixth-spot, respectively.
The NCAC Tournament begins Friday, April 24 and goes through Sunday, April 26.
