FARMINGDALE, N.Y. | The Farmingdale State College men's soccer team kicked off its 2022 campaign at home Thursday night, falling by a 3-0 count to visiting New York University.

The Violets (1-0) opened the scoring in the 19th minute of play, when junior forward Arkan Tahsildaroglu (Istanbul, Turkey) went in alone off a feed from senior Talal Said (Amman, Jordan) and slotted home a finish from 15 yards away just inside the right-hand post.

After the halftime break, NYU sophomore Bryce Lexow (Rydal, Pa.) then tripled the visitors' lead with a pair of goals -- first touching home a left-side cross inside the six-yard box from Tahsildaroglu in the 65th minute, before heading in a right-side cross from sophomore right back Ben Trask (San Diego, Calif.) six minutes later to push the edge to 3-0.

The host Rams (0-1) had their best scoring chance in the 85th minute of the match, when senior striker Brandon Balcaceras (Farmingdale, N.Y.) saw his 24-yard strike from outside the top of the area parried away by NYU backup goalie Conor Dillon (Fr.; Falls Church, Va.).

NYU held a 25-6 edge in shots (13-4 on target), and a 6-1 advantage on corner kicks. The Violets' sophomore keeper Chaz Bond (Northfield, Ill.) made three saves in 83 minutes of action to earn the victory, while Farmingdale State (0-1) senior netminder Justin Silva (Bellerose, N.Y.) made the majority of his 10 saves from point-blank range to keep the Rams in the contest.

Head coach Chuck Schimpf's FSC side is back in action this weekend (Sept. 3-4), when they travel to Ewing, N.J., to face host TCNJ Saturday at 5 p.m., before taking on Rutgers-Newark on the same field, Sunday at 5:30 p.m.
