Tartans Drop Non-Conference Match at Home

(PITTSBURGH, Pa.) – The Carnegie Mellon University men's soccer team dropped a home contest to York College on Tuesday, October 10 in its final non-conference game of the season. The Spartans scored in the first half and held on for the 1-0 win to move the Tartans' record to 7-2-3 for the season while they improved to 4-4-3.

Inside The Box Score

  • York's goal came in the 17th minute off the head of Dermot Williamson when Cole Kendra served a corner kick to the center of the box inside the 6-yard space.
  • Carnegie Mellon had the first shot on goal for the game when senior Alejandro Fernandez forced Jake Bono to make a stop near his left post.
  • The Tartans had three shots off frame in the first half and sophomore Liam Ryan kept it a 1-0 game with a save in the 30th minute.
  • Another header by Dermot Williamson in the 56th minute was grabbed out of the air by freshman Kai Yamamoto in goal for the Tartans.
  • The Tartans thought they equalized on a shot by senior Josh Baugh in the 79th minute but a foul off the ball was called against the Tartans while Baugh was striking the shot.
  • Senior Ethan Vertal made Bono react for a save in the 86th minute and freshman Julian Koide put a shot on frame in the 88th minute that was gobbled up by Bono.

  • Both losses for the Tartans this season are by 1-0 scores.
