Bentley Drops Spring Opener to Brandeis

WALTHAM, Mass. – The Bentley University men's tennis team began its spring season on Saturday against cross-town rival Brandeis, but it was the Judges that emerged victorious by a 9-0 score.

The defeat is the first of the 2021-22 season for the Falcons, who ran through the fall portion of their schedule with a 5-0 record.

Bentley's pairings in the doubles matches saw Daniel Weitz (Roslyn, N.Y./Roslyn) and Connor Aulson (Groveland, Mass./Pentucket) team up in No. 1, Max Bonte (Bradenton, Fla./Saint Stephens) and Jordan Soifer (Stamford, Conn./Westhill) team up in No. 2 and Alex Novins (Wellesley, Mass./Wellesley) and Noah Monsanto (Woodbridge, N.J./Woodbridge) team up in No. 3.

In singes play, Bonte and sophomore Gabe Horowitz (Lake Oswego, Ore./Lake Oswego) pushed their matches to super tiebreakers after splitting the first two sets with their opponents. Bonte was paired against Brandeis' Dylan Waters in No. 4 and Bonte won the first set 6-2. Waters took the second set 6-3 and then the tiebreaker by a 10-4 score.

Horowitz took on Colt Tegtmeier in No. 6. Horowitz won the first set 6-4 and Tegtmeier the second set 6-3. Tegtmeier though won the tiebreak 10-6.

The Falcons will next be in action on Friday when they visit Bryant.
