WELLESLEY, Mass. – Despite an 18-point, six-assist performance from senior guard Camila Casanueva (Santa Barbara, Calif./Dos Pueblos), the Brandeis University women's basketball team dropped its second-straight contest tonight, 81-65, at Babson College. The Judges fall to 4-2 with the loss, while the Beavers improve to 5-1.

After Casanueva hit a 3-pointer to open the game, Babson answered with trifectas of their own as three of the next four buckets to take an 11-3 lead under four minutes into the game, and the Beavers never trailed again. They would hold a 20-12 advantage after one quarter by outshooting the Judges, 40 percent (8-20) to 24 percent (4-17).

Brandeis opened the second period on an 8-2 run over the first 2:27, getting within 22-20 on a Casanueva lay-up. The teams traded points on their next two possessions, but after a lengthy dry spell by both teams, Babson's Kelly Walsh went on a tear, scoring her team's next 11 points on three 3-pointers and a lay-up as part of an 11-4 run. Her final trifecta made it 35-26 in favor of the home team, and after the teams traded buckets, Babson took the nine-point lead into the locker room, 37-38. After an 8-2 lead to open the second half, Babson would never lead by fewer than nine points the rest of the way, with their largest lead coming at 19 points midway through the fourth quarter.

In addition to Casanueva, Brandeis junior Francesca Marchese (Staten Island, N.Y./Staten Island Academy) added 11 points – eight coming in the third quarter. Classmate Emma Reavis (Miami, Okla./Deerfield Academy) added eight points and a team-high seven rebounds.

Babson was paced by Walsh, who scored a game-high 24 points, highlighted by her second-quarter outburst. She hit 9-of-19 overall, including 6-of-12 from deep. She also led all players with three steals on the defensive end. Rachel McMenemy had a terrific game off the bench, scoring 17 points and grabbing a game-high 14 rebounds, including six on the offensive glass. The Beavers' Camila Silk added 11 boards as Babson won the rebounding battle, 50-34, including 15-9 on the offensive end. Madison Odam added 10 points for Babson, while Megan Bauman had a game-high seven assists.

Brandeis returns to action after Thanksgiving Break with a Monday evening contest against Roger Williams, slated for a 6 p.m. start.
