From Washington University Athletics

The Washington University men's and women's tennis teams hosted the 12th Annual Special Olympics Tennis Clinic on Saturday at Tao Tennis Center.

Instructors for the clinic included WashU women's tennis coach Kelly Stahlhuth and men's tennis coach Roger Follmer, and student-athletes from both teams.

"Participating in Special Olympics has been an extremely rewarding experience.  I get to teach and play my favorite sport and passion with children of all ages," said women's tennis senior Jamie Silverberg. "Each year, I get to meet new participants and say hello to old friends. It is truly a great time for everyone!"

"The Special Olympics Clinic is one of my favorite events of the year," said men's tennis senior Tyler Kratky. "What could be better than teaching kids the game I love while they are having a blast playing? It's a very rewarding experience to say the least."

In addition to a full day of activities, the clinic focused on improving stroke technique, basic tennis skills, and building appreciation for tennis. The event drew more than 50 Special Olympic athletes from across the state of Missouri.
