From Emory University Athletics
Emory University senior outfielder Brett Lake was
selected to the D3Baseball.com Preseason All-America First Team,
becoming the first player in the program's history to garner the
honor.
Lake is coming off one of the best offensive seasons in the
program's history, setting a program record with 69 runs batted in,
the most by a Division III player in 2014. He was named to
the ABCA All-America Second Team and the D3Baseball.com All-America
First Team, in addition to being named the University Athletic
Association's Most Valuable Player. Lake started and played
in all 51 games last season, finishing the year with a .417 batting
average, four home runs, 54 runs scored and 13 stolen bases.
Lake is the first Emory player to be named to D3Baseball's
Preseason All-America First Team, and the second player overall,
along with former Eagles' second baseman Joe Roth, who was named to
the second team prior to the 2008 season. D3Baseball began
selecting Preseason All-America Teams in 2008.
Lake's performance helped the Eagles finish second at the 2014 NCAA
Division III Baseball Championships, matching the best finish in
the program's history. Emory finished the campaign with a
38-13 record.
The Eagles will kick off its 2015 campaign on Saturday, February
14th, when the team hosts Lynchburg College at 10:30 AM,
as part of the Emory Tournament.
