Billy Dimlow Dominant as Eagles Down Chicago 3-1

From Emory University Athletics

Freshman Billy Dimlow had his most impressive outing as a member of the Emory University baseball program on Tuesday afternoon as the Eagles won their third straight game and fourth out of their last five to improve to 18-6 on the season while the University of Chicago dropped to 3-4.

Dimlow went a career-long eight innings, allowing just two singles and punched out a season-best seven batters. After giving up a run in the third, Dimlow was in control, retiring 12 in a row before a two-out walk in the seventh inning. The Sammamish, WA native is now 5-0 in his rookie season and lowered his ERA to 2.23.

The Eagles responded after falling behind 1-0 in the top of the third as junior Brian Hernandez crushed a Joe Liberman offering to deep left to plate senior Dylan Eisner all the way from first. Hernandez added another two-out RBI in the fifth inning as Eisner came around to score on line drive right over the third basemen's glove that went all the way to the wall. Junior Wilson Morgan followed with a single to left center to bring home Hernandez to make it 3-1.

Junior Kyle Monk came on in relief of Dimlow in the ninth, allowing just a two-out single through the right side. The save was Monk's ninth of the year, a total that places him second in the country.
