John Howard of Washington University Earns Honorable Mention All-American Accolades

From Washington University Athletics

Junior pitcher John Howard of the Washington University in St. Louis baseball team was named an honorable mention All-American by D3baseball.com on Wednesday.

Howard becomes the fourth WashU pitcher to earn All-America recognition. He joins Marc Glucksman (1983, 1984), Andy Shields (2007) and Brad Margolin (2017). Howard's selection also marks the fourth straight season in which at least one Bear has been an All-American selection.

The University Athletic Association (UAA) and D3baseball.com Central Region Pitcher of the Year finished fourth in Division III with a 1.01 earned run average. He totaled 71.1 innings pitched, striking out a career-high 63 while holding the opposition to 58 hits and 14 walks for a 1.01 WHIP (walk+hits per inning pitched).

The most earned runs Howard allowed in one of his 12 appearances was two in 6.1 innings against then No. 21-ranked Wheaton (Mass.) on March 10 in a 5-4 Bears victory. Howard concluded the year with a 6-3 record.
