Spartans' Rocco Maue Named to Google Cloud Academic All-District Baseball Team

From Case Western Reserve University Athletics

Case Western Reserve University junior second baseman Rocco Maue was named to the Google Cloud Academic All-District Baseball Team, as selected by the College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA).

The award recognizes the nation's top student-athletes for their combined performances on the field and in the classroom.  By virtue of their selection to the All-District squad, Maue will be included on the ballot for Google Cloud Academic All-America honors.  First- and second-team Academic All-America honorees will be announced Tuesday, June 5th.

Maue was recently named the UAA Position Player of the Year, becoming the sixth player in program history to earn the conference's top award.  He is hitting .349 with 47 runs scored, 11 home runs, 32 RBIs and 21 stolen bases on 22 attempts, while committing just five errors at second base for a .975 fielding percentage.  His 11 home runs mark a new single-season record, as he surpassed the previous mark of nine earlier in the campaign.  Maue recorded a 14-game hitting streak earlier in the year and has 14 total multiple hit games, including a five-for-six performance with three home runs and eight RBIs against Roger Williams on March 14th.  He was named to the D3baseball.com Team of the Week on March 20th and received UAA Athlete of the Week honors on March 19th and April 2nd.

In the classroom, Maue has a perfect 4.00 grade point average as a Mechanical and Aerospace Engineering major.  He has received UAA Spring All-Academic recognition twice during his collegiate career.
