NYU Shuts Out Mt. St. Vincent Twice at MCU Park

From NYU Athletics

The New York University baseball team won both ends of a doubleheader from the College of Mount Saint Vincent on Tuesday, March 27, at MCU Park in Brooklyn.

NYU (15-1) took game one 8-0 and won game two 5-0 to complete the sweep of the Dolphins (6-11).

GAME ONE RECAP:

Cameron Serapilo-Frank continued the impressive start to his season, pitching five shutout innings and allowing just one hit to improve to 4-0 and lower his miniscule ERA to 0.75 through 24 innings pitched this season.

NYU scored four runs in the first and four more in the third to give Serapilio-Frank a comfortable lead. Colman Hendershot finished the game a perfect 3-for-3 at the plate, while Jack Walter and Jonathan Iaione each knocked in a pair of runs.

Gabriel Golob relieved Serapilio-Frank to start the sixth inning and took over where his senior captain left off, striking out six and allowing just one run over three innings of work. Paul Gadaleta came out of the bullpen in the ninth inning and also allowed just one hit to complete the Violets' second shutout of the season.

GAME TWO RECAP:

In the second game, it was Sal Cammisuli who got the start on the mound and the sophomore continued the momentum. Cammisuli tossed five shutout innings before handing the ball to Joseph Prisco and Matthew Millus to complete the seven-inning shutout.

Hendershot again led the Violets offensively, going 2-for-4 at the plate and knocking in four of NYU's five runs. The big blow came in the fifth inning when he hit a bases-clearing double to turn a 2-0 lead into a comfortable 5-0 lead. David Conforti knocked in the only other NYU run with an RBI triple in the second inning.

The Violets did not make an error in game two and turned three double plays in the win.
