Ethan Albers & Rob Cuda of CWRU Named to D3football.com All-South Region Team

From Case Western Reserve University

Case Western Reserve University senior tight end Ethan Albers and sophomore quarterback Rob Cuda were each named to the D3football.com All-South Region team, based on their standout performances during the 2015 campaign.

Albers was selected to the All-Region Second Team, while Cuda received Third Team honors.  It marked the first all-region recognition of each player's career.

Albers (Oviedo, Florida / Hagerty) was selected to the All-University Athletic Association and All-Presidents' Athletic Conference First Teams earlier in the season.  He played in all 10 games and finished the year with 29 receptions for 576 yards and five touchdowns, all career-best marks.  He averaged 19.86 yards per reception during the season, the 28th-best mark among all NCAA Division III players.

Albers is a two-time all-UAA selection, after earning a spot on the second team in 2014.  He finished his career as a Spartan with 61 receptions for 970 yards and 11 touchdowns.

Cuda (Bartlett, Illinois / South Elgin) also earned All-PAC and All-UAA First Team honors following his first year as the Spartans' starting quarterback.  Cuda led all PAC quarterbacks with 28 touchdowns (16th among DIII players), 334.6 yards of total offense per game (ninth in DIII) and 21.6 points responsible for per game (11th in DIII).  Starting all 10 games, he ended the season with 2,631 passing yards and threw just five interceptions, while completing 59.9% of his passes.  Cuda also led the squad with 715 rushing yards and eight rushing TDs.  He was named the PAC and UAA Offensive Player of the Week on three occasions, each.

Albers and Cuda are the Spartans first D3football.com All-South Region selections (CWRU had been a member of the North Region prior to rejoining the PAC prior to the start of the 2014 campaign) and the 23rd and 24th D3football.com All-Region selections overall in the program's history.  Former Spartan defensive end Adam Watson was the last CWRU player to earn D3football.com All-Region selection, when he was named to the Third Team in 2012.

Albers in the first tight end in Case Western Reserve history to be recognized as an all-region player by the organization, while Cuda is just the second quarterback, joining former CWRU player Dan Whalen (2007).

The teams, selected in balloting by South Region sports information directors and D3football.com staff, were chosen from 240 nominations by Division III member schools. A total of 77 players were chosen. Players nominated for All-Region are eligible to be considered for D3football.com All-America honors, which will be announced the evening of Dec. 18, in D3football.com's pregame coverage for Stagg Bowl XLIII.

The Spartans finished the 2015 season with a 7-3 overall ledger, the team's best record since the 2011 campaign.
