University of Chicago football player Vincent Beltrano received 2015 CoSIDA First Team Academic All-American honors on Tuesday from the College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA).
Beltrano is the fifth UChicago football player to be named an Academic All-American and the first since 1993. He was an Academic All-District selection in early November and is a three-time University Athletic Association (UAA) All-Academic recipient. To be nominated, a student-athlete must be a starter or important reserve with at least a 3.30 cumulative grade point average (on a 4.0 scale) at his/her current institution.
A four-year starter at cornerback, Beltrano owns four school records – career interceptions (15), career passes defended (40), career punt return yards (528) and interceptions in a game (3). He ended his senior campaign with 67 tackles, four interceptions, 12 passes defended and 2.5 tackles for loss.
