Three Bears Earn D3football.com All-South Region Honors

Washington University in St. Louis had three student-athletes named to the 2015 D3football.com All-South Region First Team, as announced by the website.

Senior tight end Max Elliott and senior kicker Alex Hallwachs and senior cornerback Quincy Marting were named to the All-South Region First Team.

Elliott, a first-team all-Southern Athletic Association (SAA) and second-team all-University Athletic Association (UAA) selection, was third on the team and sixth in the SAA with 42 receptions for 447 yards and three touchdowns. He led the SAA in receptions for a tight end, and was also second in receiving yards.

Elliott hauled in a catch in all 10 games, including a career-high nine receptions for 97 yards at No. 23 Case Western Reserve University Oct. 31 He also had six catches for 57 yards at No. 19 Centre College Sept. 19. Elliott appeared in 38 career games and had 82 catches for 979 yards and five touchdowns.

Hallwachs earned first-team all-SAA and all-UAA honors, and was tabbed the 2015 UAA Special Teams Player of the Year. He tied a single-season school record going 15-of-25 in field goals and set a school record going 44-of-45 in extra points. Hallwachs led the SAA and UAA and was third in NCAA Division III in field goals (15), and also was second in both leagues in scoring (89).

A four-time UAA Special Teams Athlete of the Week and three-time SAA Athlete of the Week honoree in 2015, Hallwachs booted a school-record 53-yard field goal at Berry College Oct. 3, and set a single-game school record going 9-for-9 in extra points vs. Millsaps College Oct. 24. Hallwachs holds the WashU career record for field goals (45) and extra points (97), and is second in scoring (232).

Marting, a first-team all-SAA and second-team all-UAA honoree, led the Bears with 84 tackles, 17 pass break-ups and four interceptions. He led the SAA and ranked 14th in NCAA Division III in pass break-ups, and was also second in interceptions. Marting earned D3football.com Team of the Week honors on Nov. 17 after recording a career-high 16 tackles (13 solo) and an interception in the final game of his career vs. the University of Chicago Nov. 14.

He was a three-time UAA Defensive Athlete of the Week and two-time SAA Athlete of the Week honoree in 2015. Marting appeared in 39 career games with 197 tackles, 34 pass break-ups and 11 interceptions.

WashU finished the 2015 season with a 6-4 overall record, securing its 21st winning season under head coach Larry Kindbom. The Bears were co-champions of the UAA with a 2-1 mark, and tied for fourth in the SAA with a 5-3 record.
