Austin Smelted of Washington University Named to D3football.com Team of the Week

Following a career game in a 36-21 come-from-behind win at Birmingham Southern College Saturday, Washington University in St. Louis senior running back Austin Smestad was named to the D3football.com Team of the Week, presented by Scoutware.

Smestad ran for a career-high 169 yards on 19 carries with three second-half TDs in the win. WashU rallied from a 21-7 halftime deficit.

He has run for 266 yards and four touchdowns on 35 carries this season. Smestad ranks second in the Southern Athletic Association (SAA) in yards per carry (7.6) and fifth in rushing yards per game (88.7). 

This is the 18th season that D3football.com has selected the Team of the Week, which honors the top player nationally at each position from the previous week.
