Rochester Associate Director of Athletics Andrea Golden Honored by Rochester Press-Radio Club

Andrea Golden the University of Rochester Associate Director of Athletics For Varsity Programs, received the Rochester Press-Radio Club's prestigious Jean Giambrone Award.

The Press-Radio Club holds its annual gala at the Rochester Riverside Convention Center. It is a charity dinner to raise money for worthy causes. Every year, a special guest attends as the Coca-Cola Sports Personality of the Year. This year, that sports personality was Mariano Rivera, the retired relief pitcher for the New York Yankees.

Golden is the second Rochester athletics administrator to win the Giambrone Award. Jane Possee, the associate athletics director for recreation and wellness, was honored by the Press-Radio Club in 2014. Read more about Andrea Golden.
 
Jean Giambrone was a 1942 graduate of the University of Rochester. She wrote extensively for the Rochester Times-Union, covering everything from local sports to the Masters golf tournament. She became popularly known as "Rochester's First Lady of Sports". She was inducted into the University's Athletic Hall of Fame in 2004.

Tara Lamberti, the All-American goaltender for the field hockey team, received the Jerry Flynn Local College Female Athlete of the Year award and is pictured with Golden.
