Andrew Sanders of Washington University Earns D3hoops.com and NABC All-Region

Washington University in St. Louis junior forward Andrew Sanders capped a tremendous season by earning 2017 D3hoops.com and NABC All-Central Region Second-Team honors, as announced Tuesday.

Sanders, a first-team all-University Athletic Association (UAA) selection, averaged a team-high 16.5 points and 6.3 rebounds per game in 27 starts for the Bears. He scored in double figures in 25 of 27 games played, including a career-high 30 points in an 88-77 win at Case Western Reserve University Jan. 29.

Sanders finished the year ranked third in the UAA in scoring, seventh in steals (1.2), ninth in field-goal percentage (.541) and 10th in rebounding (6.3). He also finished second in the league with 121 free-throws made. Sanders earned UAA Athlete of the Week honors on Jan. 30 and Feb. 6.

WashU finished the 2016-17 season with a 21-6 overall mark and won its 14th UAA Championship in school history. The Bears also advanced to the second round of the NCAA Tournament.
