From University of Chicago Athletics

The University of Chicago men's basketball team garnered a 2016-17 Team Academic Excellence Award from the National Association of Basketball Coaches (NABC) on Wednesday.

A total of 211 squads received the academic recognition. Now in its fifth year, the Team Academic Excellence Award is given to team with a cumulative grade point average (GPA) of 3.0 or better for the 2016-17 season.

The Maroons posted a 16-9 overall record last season, with an 8-6 mark in the University Athletic Association (UAA).
