From NYU Athletics
The New York University men's and women's fencing teams competed
in the North America Cup on Sunday, January 11, in Salt Lake City,
UT.
NYU was represented by 10 men's fencers and three women's fencers
on Sunday. The men competed in junior men's foil, Division I sabre
and senior team epee, while the women competed in Division I
epee.
The Violets were most successful in the junior men's foil
competition where Daniel Sconzo finished in
15th place and Philip Shin ended the
153-person event in 25th place. Sconzo picked up nine wins on
Sunday.
Quinten Burgunder and Josiah
Teng competed for NYU in Division I sabre. Burgunder led
NYU with two wins in the competition.
The last group of men to compete on Sunday was the senior men's
epee team of John Cramerus, Hans
Engel and Evan Accardi. The squad was
defeated in its only match.
Alyssa Parkhurst, Stephanie
Cunningham and Marissa Posner each
competed for the Violets in the Division I women's epee
competition. Parkhurst and Posner both picked up two wins on the
day.
