The Brandeis University fencing teams faced some stiff competition at today's Brandeis Invitational.

The top squad on the day was the men's sabre fencers, who went 3-2. They were 7-2 winners over Incarnate Word, 8-1 over Cornell, and had a 5-4 upset over Harvard. Men's foil posted 7-2 wins over both UIW and Cornell, while men's epee won 6-3 and 5-4 over those opponents.
Several Judges posted six wins on the afternoon. Sophomore sabre fencer Lucas Lin (Plano, Texas. / Plano West) had perhaps the most impressive single performance, going 3-0 against Harvard. He was also 2-0 against Cornell. Sabre fencers had the only other 3-0 showings on the day, from senior Shawn Pyatetsky (Fair Lawn, N.J./Fair Lawn) against Cornell and rookie Dexin Huang (Guilford, Conn. / Guilford) against UIW. Senior Charles Catino (Bellvue, Wash./Hillside) added a winning record against Harvard, going 2-1, while also going 2-0 against Cornell. Rookie epee fencer Ben Rogak (E.Setauket, N.Y./Ward-Melville) was the only Judge to pick up wins against all five opponents, including two against Cornell.
