The Emory men's golf team concluded play at its Spring Invitational on Tuesday. The 36-hole event was played at the 7,059-yard, par-72 Barnsley Gardens Resort in Adairsville.
The Eagles (310-305) tied Greensboro College (311-304) for sixth place in the 13-team field with each squad posting a score of 615. No. 3-ranked Methodist claimed first place and defended its Spring Invitational title after registering a 592 (294-298), nine shots better than runner-up Berry College (296-305—601). No. 2 LaGrange (307-299—606) and No. 11 Guilford (301-305—606) tied for third while No. 1 Oglethorpe rounded out the top five at 612 (310-302).
Junior Vince Sirianni (Blue Bell, PA) ranked as Emory's top performer, tying for third place in the 72-player field with a one-over par 145 (75-70). Siranni's two-under 70 on Tuesday tied for the tourney's low round of the day and featured a strong effort down the stretch with birdies on five of the last seven holes. Sirianni's showing enabled him to capture all-tournament honors. Senior Alex Wunderlich was the next Emory player on the leader board with 151 (78-73), placing 18th overall. Freshman Keenan Hickton(78-81—159), sophomore Sam Nichamin (79-82—161) and junior Jonathan Gerrard (87-81—168) rounded out the tem portion of the scoring. Freshman Matt Csillag (Syosset, NY), played as an individual and carded a 162 (84-78).
Tying for medalist honors were John Grimes (74-70—144) of Guilford College and Jackson Collier (72-72—144) of Methodist University, with Grimes emerging the winner via a scorecard playoff.
