From University of Rochester Athletics
The University of Rochester men's golf team teed up its 2014-15
season with a 3rd place finish at the St. John Fisher Invitational
over the weekend at Mendon Golf Club.
#21 ranked Rochester finished with a two day total of 605, just
four strokes behind winner Washington & Jefferson and one shot
back of 2nd place St. John Fisher.
Sophomore Matt van Niekerk got off to a great start to this year,
ending in a tie for 2nd place with a 148 (+6) after rounds of 75
and 73. Junior Dominick Schumacher was T8th after
back-to-back 75s (150, +8) while freshman Luis Arteaga was T11th
with a 151.
Sophomore Jona Scott shot 77-79=156 for a T26th place finish and
freshman Garrett Sweeney rounded out the Yellowjacket scoring with
a 47th place finish.
Five individuals were in the field for UR with junior Matt Michael
ending in 32nd after rounds of 78 and 79. Sophomore Sean
Hickey and freshman Corey Mitchener ended tied with each other in
37th place with two day scores of 159. Freshman Scott
Chudacoff fired a 2nd round six strokes better than his first day
total and was 41st with a 162 and junior G.W. VanderZwaag ended
T43rd.
