Carnegie Mellon Places Fifth at TaylorMade-adidas Intercollegiate

The Carnegie Mellon University men's golf team competed at the final day of the TaylorMade-adidas Intercollegiate, hosted by Ohio Wesleyan University on Monday, March 7.  The two-day event is being held on the Cotton Dike Course at the Dataw Island Club in Beaufort, S.C. with 36 holes being played on Monday.

Carnegie Mellon finished the 12-team event in fifth place with a 921 (308-312-301).  Guilford College won the 54-hole tournament after carding an 889 (298-294-297).

On Tuesday afternoon, junior George Qian (Bettendorf, Iowa/Montverde Academy) carded a season-best low of four-under par 68.  The junior ended the intercollegiate with a score of 225 79-78-68) to place eighth out of a field of 84 golfers.  Sophomore Nikhil Mohan (Bangalore, India/Canadian International School) entered the clubhouse on Tuesday also with a season-best round as he shot a two-over par 74 and finished with a 228 (76-78-74).

Junior Brad Jennette (Pittsford, N.Y./Sutherland) fired his third straight round of 78 to end with a 54-hole score of 234 while classmate Jordan Klodowski (Kittanning, Pa.) finished with a 234 (75-78-81) as well. Freshman Patrick Tan (Vancouver, British Columbia/Prince of Wales Secondary) totaled a 252 (79-85-88) to round out the Tartans fifth man.

Carnegie Mellon had three individuals enter the field with junior Alexander Pomerantz (Warren, N.J./Watchung Hills Regional) leading the way with a 245 (82-78-85). Sophomore Adrian Del Bosque (Monterrey, Mexico/IMG Academy) carded a 250 (80-87-83) and freshman Austin Lin (Los Gatos, Calif./Archbishop Mitty) finished with a 296 (92-97-107).
