From Emory University Athletics

The No. 12-ranked Emory University golf team has been selected to compete in the 2016 NCAA Division III Golf Championships.  The Eagles are one of 41 squads vying for the team title that will be played May 10-13 in Rochester, NY.  Serving as the host institution will be Saint John Fisher University.

Emory was one of two teams selected from Pool B which consists of independent institutions, and institutions that are members of conferences that do not meet the requirements for automatic qualification.  A total of 33 conferences were awarded automatic bids while six berths were reserved for Pool C - schools from automatic qualifying conferences that are not conference champs and any remaining Pool B teams.  In addition, five individuals from non-qualifying teams were chosen to participate bringing the field to 210 players.

The 72-hole Championships will be played both on the 6,632-yard, par-72 Midvale Country Club and the 6,645-yard, Mendon Golf Club. After a 36-hole cut that slices the field to 15 teams, the final two rounds of the event will be conducted on the Midvale Country Club.

Emory will be making its 19th overall in the 31-year history of the program and first since 2013.

All of the top 10 and 13 of the 14 top-ranked teams will be in the hunt for this year's national crown.  Methodist holds down the No. 1 spot in the Bushnell Golfweek Coaches' Poll while Claremont-Mudd-Scripps, Oglethorpe University, Concordia (TX) and Berry College round out the top five.

Methodist enters this year's Championships looking to defend its title after posting a three-shot advantage over runner-up LaGrange College.
