Emory Golf Day 2 Blog From Scotland

From Emory University Athletics

Stefano Butti of the Emory golf team recaps the squad's Saturday activities in Scotland, which included a round of play at the legendary Castle Course at St. Andrews.

Today was a true test.  We made our way into the Castle course at St. Andrews for an early morning tee time. The wind was unprecedented, at least for us.  With the wind howling at 40 miles per hour we had to adjust, and we had to do it fast.  Even the putts were influenced by the wind. Tony was able to scramble his way to a 75. But the highlight was Csillag making birdie on the 155-yard, par-three 13th hole. Dead into the wind, he managed to hit driver onto the putting surface and get away with it.

Moving onto the afternoon round at the Craighead course in the Crail Golfing Society. Given the deadly conditions, only Tony, Stefano and Csillag were brave enough to play. But the weather proved to be too much for Stefano who could not muster the fortitude to continue playing and subsequently went back to the clubhouse with Csillag after an opening front nine score of 41.  Once again, only Tony was able to continue. A true warrior under the storm, he played nine holes in a little over an hour to shoot 36. If he keeps going like this he might just be the one to take home the win when it's all said and done next Thursday.
