Emory Third After First Round Of NCAA Fall Preview

The Emory University golf team was solid on Sunday during the opening round of the NCAA D-III Fall Preview. The 54-hole event is being played at the Mission Inn Golf and Tennis Resort in Howey-in-the-Hills, Florida. 

Playing on the 6,900-yard, par-72 Las Colinas Course, Emory wound up the first day of play in third place out of 18 teams, shooting a one-under par 287, which tied the program's 10th-best mark for a single round. Wittenberg University stands first at 281 while Huntingdon is just one shot off the pace. Guilford College is fourth (290) and Mary Hardin-Baylor closes out the top five (292).

Junior Keenan Hickton recorded Emory's best round of the day, firing a career best three-under par 69 that ties for fourth in the 92-player field. Sophomore Anthony Muscato posted a one-under 71, tying for eighth on the leader board, while sophomore Connor Yakubov wound up with an even par 72. Junior Sean Murphy closed out the team's scorers at 75. Freshman Matt Organisak competed and shot a 76.

Will Thrash of Huntingdon and Isaac Hartley of Wittenberg tied for the best score of the day with each carding 67s.
