NYU Concludes Fall Season at Skidmore

The New York University men's golf team finished in fourth place at the Skidmore Invitational, which was hosted by Skidmore College at the Saratoga National Golf Club in Saratoga Springs, NY, on Saturday and Sunday, October 7-8.

After shooting a 22-over-par 311 on Saturday's first round, the Violets battled back and climbed up two spots on Sunday. The Violets shot 304 on Sunday to finish the invitational with a weekend total of 615. Williams College won the six-team event with a score of 577. 

NYU's Jensen Li and Patrick McNary led the way for the Violet golfers. The duo shot 152, (8-over-par) on the weekend to tie for 11th place. Just one stroke behind was teammate Matt Shen with a 153 (76,77). The sophomore finished in 16th place 

 "I was really proud of Jensen," said Head Coach Brad Johnson. "He had a lot of birdies today and was very consistent despite struggling a bit with the putter."

OTHER HIGHLIGHTS:

- NYU sophomore Kelly Sun took 21st. He compiled a weekend score of 158 (79,79).

- Violet freshman Pratheek Velamuri carded scores of 81 and 81. His overall score of 162 put him in a tie for 29th.

- Jensen Li's second round score of 73 (+1) was the best single-round score of any NYU golfer during the event.

- Competing as an individual NYU captain Qizhi Wong ended the invitational in the day in 27th. The junior carded a 160, (16-over-par). He leads all golfers competing as individuals.

"We finished strong today," added Johnson. "Yesterday was not our day but today we went out there and played our normal style and did well. I'm happy we were able to end the fall portion of the season with a much better round as a team."
