Emory University head golf coach John Sjoberg has been named as one five NCAA Division III finalists for the Dave Williams Award presented by Golf Pride Grips. The announced was made by the Golf Coaches Association of America (GCAA). The Williams Award honors the national coach of the year in D-III.  Williams Award and regional coach of the year recipients will be announced June 6. It is the second straight year that Sjoberg has been chosen as a finalist.

Joining Sjoberg as finalists are Chris Hill of Concordia (TX), Brad Johnson of New York University, Scott Proshek of St. Thomas (MN) and Kenyon's Grant Wallace. If a team wins the NCAA Championship, and its coach was not previously named a finalist for the Dave Williams Award, that coach will be added for coach of the year consideration.

Now in his seventh year at the helm of the program, Sjoberg directed the Eagles to their third straight University Athletic Association title. In addition to its league crown, Emory played its way to first-place finishes at the Rhodes College Fall Invitational, the Discover DeKalb Emory Spring Invitational (Apr. 7-8) and the Kravetz Invitational (Apr. 13-14). Sjoberg and his assistant, Cameron Hopper, were named the UAA Coaching Staff of the Year.  Four Eagles were named all UAA, including Matt Organisak, who was the league's Player of the Year for the second straight season.

The Eagles are currently competing at the NCAA D-III Championships at the Grandover Resort in Greensboro, North Carolina. Emory has made the Championships on five occasions during Sjoberg's tenure as head coach.
