From Brandeis University Athletics

The Brandeis University men's soccer team went on the road in the University Athletic Association and came away with a 2-1 victory over Case Western Reserve today. The Judges improved to 10-1-1 on the season, marking the sixth-straight year they have reached the 10-win plateau. Junior midfielder Josh Ocel (No. Attleboro, Mass./Worcester Acad.) assisted both goals en route to the victory.

HOW IT HAPPENED

• Brandeis opened the scoring in the 33^rd minute when junior Josh Berg (Weymouth, Mass. / Weymouth) – about seven minutes after coming off the bench – finished an Ocel corner.
• After a chippy first 10 minutes of the second half – featuring four yellow cards, three of which were assessed to the Judges – Case Western Reserve's Chris Cvecko equalized on a penalty kick in the 56^th minute.
• The Judges went back on top thanks to senior Chris Bradley (E. Brunswick, N.J. / E. Brunswick) , another reserve. Bradley came on just before another Ocel  corner and headed it home for the game-winner, the first game-winner of his career.

INSIDE THE BOX SCORE

• Brandeis outshot CWRU, 7-0, in the first half, but the Spartans were much more aggressive in the second, taking 9 shots to the Judges' 7.
• The Spartans got off six of their nine shots for the game after the go-ahead goal, but Brandeis sophomore Ben Woodhouse (Suffield, Conn./Suffield)denied Cvecko twice to secure the win.
• The goals were the second of the season for both Berg and Bradley. It was Berg's third career goal and Bradley's seventh.
• With six assists now on the season, Ocel is tied for the UAA lead.  It was his second career two-assist game and the fourth time has been involved in multiple goals.
• He now has 15 helpers in just over a season-and-a-half, having missed his rookie campaign to injury. One more assist will move him into Brandeis's career top-25.
• Woodhouse finished with four saves, CWRU's Christian Grimme with six stops in the losing effort.
• The Judges matched a season-high with five yellow cards, while CWRU received two yellows and a red – at the end of the match.

TEAM RECORDS

• Brandeis improves to 10-1-1, 2-0 in the UAA.
• The Judges are ranked #3 in Division III by D3soccer.com, #6 by the NSCAA.
• CWRU falls to 9-2-1, 1-1 UAA. The Spartans were #17 in the NSCAA national poll.
• The Judges sit in a two-way tie with Emory atop the UAA with 6 points.
• Brandeis improved to 18-8-2 against CWRU, having won four in a row in the series.
