Pair Added to NYU Coaching Staff

From NYU Athletics

Greg Kenney and Paul LeSueur have been hired as assistant coaches of the New York University men's soccer team, joining newly-hired Head Coach Kim Wyant on the sidelines.

LeSueur will assist Wyant with game management, scouting and player development, while Kenney will work primarily with the goalkeepers.

"I will rely on both of them heavily," Wyant said. "They both have great soccer minds."

LeSueur and Kenney bring extensive soccer experience to the Violets.

Before arriving at NYU, LeSueur most recently served as the General Manager for the New York Athletic Club team. He played collegiately for Springfield College in Springfield, MA, graduating with a Bachelor of Science degree in health, physical education and recreation in 1970. He later earned his Master of Science degree in athletic administration and sports management from Springfield in 1974.

After playing professionally as for the New York Cosmos of the North American Soccer League, LeSueur coached for over 30 years at the professional, amateur, and scholastic levels. He also served as Athletic Director for several school districts.

A 2013 inductee into the Long Island Soccer Players Hall of Fame, LeSueur resides in Garden City, NY.

Prior to his current position at NYU, Kenney worked for the National Soccer Coaches Association of America (NSCAA), where he helped develop and adjust the national goalkeeping curriculum. He also has been serving as the Camp Director and Athletic Director for the Strathmore Vanderbilt Country Club in Manhasset, NY.

A 1985 graduate of Penn State University with a Bachelor of Science degree in health education, Kenney was a four-year member of the Nittany Lions' soccer team as a goalkeeper. He is currently the school's all-time leader in shutouts and saves. Kenney also earned a Master of Arts degree in physical education from the University of Akron in 1993.

After a professional career in the American Professional Soccer League (APSL), Kenney coached a number of different teams at the collegiate, high school and amateur levels.
