The New York University men's soccer team improved to 2-1 this season with a 3-1 win over the City College of New York (CCNY) on Wednesday, September 7, on Randall's Island in Manhattan.

The Violets utilized a stingy defense and two first-half goals in sending the Beavers to their third loss (1-3) of the season.

Junior Tristan Medios-Simon scored the game's first goal on an assist from senior captain Petter Aasa. Aasa then scored a goal of his own late in the first half on an assist from freshman Owen Smith to give NYU a 2-0 advantage.

"We played pretty well and implemented a lot of the things we've been doing in practice," said NYU Head Coach Kim Wyant. "We were able to get a lot of our players involved."

Freshman Drew Enyedi capped the Violets' scoring on his first collegiate goal in the second half. He was assisted by sophomore Evan Reifsnyder.

The Beavers then scored their only goal on their only shot of the game in the 84th minute. Overall, NYU tallied 25 shots, with 12 of them on goal.

Senior Lucas Doucette played all 90 minutes in net for NYU.

"I'm disappointed that we lost the shutout," Wyant explained. "But, we were able to concert on our changes tonight, something we were unable to do in our loss to Manhattanville."
