NYU Men's Swimming & Diving Finishes in Second at ECAC Championships

New York University's men's swimming & diving team placed second at the Eastern College Athletic Conference (ECAC) Championships, which were held Friday-Sunday, December 6-8, at Lehman College in the Bronx, NY.

Junior Jerry Crowley set a new ECAC record on Sunday, December 8, when he won the 50-yard freestyle with a time of 20.87. Crowley also won the 100-yard freestyle on Saturday, with a time of 45.20 to set another ECAC record.

HIGHLIGHTS:

- Junior Matt Kendall won the 100-yard breaststroke with a NCAA-qualifying time of 57.73, setting a new ECAC record.

- Crowley and Kendall participated on the second-place 400-yard medley relay team along with freshman Daniel Tay and senior Charlie Wu (3:26.02).

- Violet freshmen were very strong at the meet. Ethan Louie placed third in the 500-yard freestyle (4:41.83) and Jason Bo finished the 200-yard individual medley in fourth (1:56.51).

"Our team did a great job against some really tough competition," said NYU Head Coach and ECAC Coach of the Meet Trevor Miele. "I am very proud of our results this weekend."

The Violets' next meet will be at the Palladium Athletic Facility in Manhattan, NY, against Springfield College on Saturday, January 18, at 1:00 p.m.
