21 Chicago Student-Athletes Named CSCAA All-Americans

The University of Chicago swimming and diving teams had 21 student-athletes honored as College Swimming Coaches Association of America (CSCAA) All-Americans on Friday.

A total of 13 Maroons earned All-American status by finishing in the top eight in their respective events at the NCAA Division III Championships. Another eight were Honorable Mention All-Americans who finished in the top 16 at the NCAAs.

UChicago's contingent of All-Americans included nine freshman, seven sophomores, four juniors and one senior. Freshman Abby Erdmann highlighted the group with a national championship in the 200-yard butterfly, which was the second swimming national title in school history. UChicago's top finisher on the men's side was junior diver Anthony Restaino, who placed third in the three-meter dive.

  • Freshman Jonas Fowler – (6th, 800-yard freestyle relay)
  • Senior Eric Hallman – (6th, 800-yard freestyle relay / 7th, 400-yard freestyle relay)
  • Junior Jennifer Hill – (8th, 400-yard freestyle relay / 10th, 200-yard freestyle relay / 11th, 400-yard medley relay / 12th, 200-yard medley relay)
  • Freshman Mantim Lee – (6th, 800-yard freestyle relay / 7th, 400-yard freestyle relay / 10th, 200-yard freestyle relay / 14th, 200-yard freestyle)
  • Sophomore Thomas Meek – (5th, 200-yard medley relay / 7th, 400-yard freestyle relay / 10th, 200-yard freestyle relay / 14th, 50-yard freestyle / 14th, 400-yard medley relay)
  • Junior Anthony Restaino – (3rd, three-meter dive / 12th, one-meter dive)
  • Freshman Maya Scheidl – (8th, 400-yard freestyle relay / 10th, 200-yard freestyle relay / 11th, 400-yard medley relay / 12th, 200-yard medley relay / 12th, 800-yard freestyle relay)
  • Junior Matthew Staab – (7th, three-meter dive / 14th, one-meter dive)
  • Sophomore James Taylor – (5th, 200-yard medley relay)
  • Sophomore Matthew Veldman – (5th, 200-yard medley relay / 6th, 800-yard freestyle relay / 7th, 400-yard freestyle relay / 10th, 200-yard freestyle relay / 14th, 400-yard medley relay / 14th, 100-yard butterfly)
  • Freshman Alison Wall – (7th, 200-yard backstroke / 8th, 400-yard freestyle relay / 11th, 400-yard medley relay / 12th, 800-yard freestyle relay / 14th, 200-yard freestyle)
