Austen Blease of NYU Named Men's Diver of the Meet at ECAC Championships

Senior Austen Blease continued his winning streak in the one-meter competition on Saturday and was named ECAC Men's Diver of the Meet at the Eastern College Athletic Conference (ECAC) Championships, which are being held Friday-Sunday, December 5-7, at the Nassau County Aquatic Center in East Meadow, NY.

Blease was named Men's Diver of the Meet and Diving Coach Scott Donie was named both Men's and Women's Coach of the Meet.

"We had dominating performances by the divers this weekend," said Donie. "It was a great way to finish off this half of the season."

HIGHLIGHTS:

- Senior captain Jerry Crowle, who participated on Friday's record-breaking 200-yard medley relay team, set an ECAC and NYU team record with his NCAA-qualifying 100-yard freestyle time of 43.97. Crowley also achieved a NCAA cut in the 100-yard butterfly (48.59), breaking the previous NYU team record of 49.31.

- Freshman Adam Betts finished second in the 100-yard backstroke (49.98) and the 200-yard backstroke (1:50.18), beating both NYU team records.

- Freshman Tim Kou won the 100-yard breaststroke (56.00), setting new ECAC Championship and NYU team records. He also broke the NYU record in the 200-yard breaststroke with his time of 2:01.43.

- Crowley and Kou also participated on the team record-breaking 800-yard freestyle relay (6:44.87), along with sophomores Ethan Louie and Max Phillips.

- Freshman Austin Palmer broke his second team record during the ECAC Championships in the 400-yard individual medley (3:57.98), achieving a NCAA-qualifying time. Palmer also made the NCAA cut in the 200-yard butterfly (1:52.21).

"I couldn't be happier with our performance today. The team exceeded my expectations, and I am really proud of how they competed," said Head Coach Trevor Miele. "I am looking forward to finishing the meet up tomorrow with some more NCAA cuts and team records."
