NYU Sits in Eighth Place After Day One of NCAA Swimming and Diving Championships

Five New York University men's swimmers participated in the evening session of the NCAA Division III Championships on Wednesday, March 18, at the Conroe ISD Natatorium in Shenandoah, TX.

After the first two sessions of competition, NYU is in eighth place of 28 teams with 41 points. Kenyon College is in first with 109 points.

The 200-yard medley relay team finished fourth overall with a time of 1:29.31, earning All-American honors. Freshman Adam Betts, sophomore Daniel Tay, and senior captains Matt Kendall and Jerry Crowley beat the previous team record of 1:30.16 which the relay team set earlier today.

HIGHLIGHTS:

 Austin Palmer finished in seventh during the consolation finals with a time of 4:34.83, placing 15th overall and earning an All-American honorable mention. The freshman finished 12th during preliminaries, breaking the NYU team record with his time of 4:30.33.

- Crowley won the 50-yard freestyle consolation finals (20.39), earning a ninth-place finish overall and an All-American honorable mention.

"I am really impressed with the team's performance today," said Head Coach Trevor Miele. "Their times and placements were amazing, and I am really proud of their effort."
